If you change by downloading the and using the Release version installer today you would be current as of todays date. With check for updates turned on in options you will get what ever updates the release channel gets. In the last cycle Firefox 10 updated 2 times in approx. 6 weeks

I would say that if you are on 12.0 beta, you would probably not get a release until 12.0 goes final. You may not get a new release until 13.0.

If Help > About says you are on the beta channel you are on 12.0b1 and will get 12.0b2, 12.0b3, 12.0b4 etc. for as many beta updates there are as long as you are checking for updates manually or set to auto update and at the end of the cycle you will get beta 13.0b1 and and and ...

Firefox will only update you to the next upwards number release. The only way to downgrade your release channel status and get timely updates is to manually download the proper channel you want.
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.
