umm so does that mean the old i'm feeling lucky thingy will return? Or its just for preventing ask toolbar etc to hijack search of awesomebar ?
Your second guess is correct. Firefox will now prompt when an addon changes keyword.url to a non default value. Sadly, it may never prompt again if the first prompt is dismissed.

On Options>General>Startup, is "Don't load tabs until selected" checked or unchecked?

Yes, it is there in the 3/10 Nightly. (Your useragent says you are on Firefox 11.0)
I don't use Nightly for regular browsing. Ignore the user agent.
Apparently, the reset button is shown only on the default profile, which is a rather stupid decision. You should never use your default profile with Nightly due to possible data loss bugs.
So you simply have to tick the 'default' box in the profilemanager to have the reset button spawn there. No big deal, the chances of you using it on your alternative(aka not the one with junk) profile is very small in the first place.

Indeed, it appears to be the Segoe UI Symbol font ...
Perhaps MS updates the fonts in Win8 CP. Win7's Segoe UI symbol (v5.00) does not support Emoticons at all. I'm on Eng Win7 (locale set to Hong Kong though) with Eng nightly.
I am on a default Win7 and they are not showing on the wiki for me. What font do I have to have installed for it to work? I am on an English system too.
Please refer to the above screenshot. The 4 free fonts on the right supports emoticons.
