We found a problem (thanks Martijn!!) in the first round of candidates and this new round of builds corrects that problem. Any help testing these new builds is greatly appreciated.

Zowie! With the 20050403 build at 09:28 hrs, the memory on javascript page, MSBNC, goes right thru the roof and does not stop...zoomed to 180MB and kept going till I killed the process.

Back to 0402 build for now...

Peter, regarding to bug 288831, I just backed out the fix for bug 288137 in my debug build, after that I don't see bug 288831 anymore (which is probably responsable for all the memory bugs seen).
But this doesn't seem to be consistent with the observation that it also happens in Firefox1.0.3 builds.

What I was trying to say last time (regarding the PNG background and position:fixed slowdown) is that they should be blocking1.1 not only due to a huge community interest, but this is one of those bugs that prevents users from switching to Firefox. If these users can't view Bungie.net without their graphics card crying mercy, they surely won't look at all the awesomeness that Firefox delivers. =/

I just feel maybe some more effort should be put into those bugs to at least find the cause of them. Does KHTML have the same issue with PNG background-fixed and position:fixed elements? Other non-CSS implementations of position:fixed (e.g. JavaScript hacks, frames) work perfectly fine, why not the correct way of doing it? There must be some sort of redundancy in the repainting the page when scrolling; why else could it eat up 100% resources on current-gen hardware?

JunkieV > have you tried a nightly 1.1 trunk build? www.bungie.net is scrolling a lot better in it. Not perfect, mind you, but much better than firefox 1.02

Just so people know there's now a second round version of the 1.0.3 test build that fixes a bug or whatnot

Tools / Options / Content doesn't make sense to me; there is a tic box "Allow web sites to install software" and then there's a button "Allowed sites". Think about it, doesn't make sense, does it?
If the box is checked, any web site is allowed to install software. If the box is unchecked, the button is grey (unavailable).

Yes that does seem a bit silly.

How about the tick box reading "Allow selected websites to install software" or something?

I agree but if I go by my initial impression without thinking about it too much it makes sense. :P

chob - I think that would make more sense.
