Wow that is a quite large set of patches. It sounds like it might fix a lot of the laggy scrolling on complex sites (rarely run into it but when I do it's quite annoying). I hope they sort out the regressions soon.
It was backed out because it effectively killed scrolling speed. I mean like visually 30x slower killed.
That and rendering bugs.

but clearly Firefox laggs as hell when rendering happens somewhere...
too bad that we must wait for multitasking/multithreading that long...
but try Suspend background tabs created by Wladimir Palant and 99% of hangs will be gone...
