Video glitch when a search opens up in a foreground tab.

When one does a context menu search the search engine results will open up in a new foreground tab. I notice that this will always produce a black box at the bottom of the screen before the results are shown. Search results in the current tab and a background tab do not produce this 'glitch'. I run at an OS dpi of 120. I use NoSquint to globally change full page zoom to 80 which is equivalent to setting the OS dpi to 96. This problem only happens if my full page zoom amount does not match the OS dpi.

If you use some sort of zoom add-on you could try lowering the full zoom percentage. If not, the easiest way to see if you have this problem, do the following.

1. Start with a new profile, if need be.

2. Zoom should be full, not text. The zoom control percentage should say 100%.

3. Do a search and set the zoom for the search results page to 80%.

4. Now select some text on the search page, right click on it and select 'Search <engine> for <what you selected>.

5. The search results should appear in a new foreground tab. Did you notice a black bar at the bottom of the screen before the search results appeared?

This problem is dependent on having a full page zoom that is less (maybe even more, haven't tested this) than the OS dpi and search results that open up in a foreground tab.

Yes, I see that issue on Ubuntu with the 6 September build.

I used a clean profile, so I couldn't see the zoom menu to get the zoom number. The bar was small at 90%, larger at 80% and smaller zoom.

When the bar at the bottom "Nightly automatically sends some data" was present the black bar wasn't visible.

I was not able to reproduce the problem with Firefox 32.

I opened up a bug .... 1064067 – Black bar appears on bottom of page when zoom less than 100%.
