Re: no-remote removal
-no-remote still works in Firefox 39, just tested it. Never used it before, but it works.
I don't know when it started but I'm thinking perhaps the name of the profile has changed somewhere along the line.
They still show as a common name in the Profile chooser but in reality the profile names are prefixed by 8 random numbers/letters.profile name
When I enter in the Search Orb on win7: firefox.exe -no-remote -p treeherder it brings up the Profile chooser there I can select any of my 10 profiles and it will open. I have 3 other windows open and the new one started by -no-remote works just fine.
EDIT: I suspect I typed something wrong, as when I was looking at C:/username I had created a whole folder with profile name I was trying to test with. I was able to delete without messing anything up but it did make me a bit nervous.
EDIT: copy/paste this line: firefox.exe -no-remote -p into the Win7 Search box
1. Press the Windows Key
2. Right-click paste the above line - press enter
3. The Profile Chooser comes up - highlight the profile you want press 'Start button'

Re: no-remote removal
The first announces that, as pointed out, -remote has been removed, not -no-remote. The are different. See your second link for info on -remote.

Re: no-remote removal
The related bug is listed on the release notes page.
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.

And this different -remote switch has been removed again in Firefox 36.0.3
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/36.0.3/releasenotes/
The 36.0.2 was skipped as there was a mobile Firefox 36.0.2.

Re: no-remote removal
It could they just updated the release notes for 36.0 and forgot to change that item.
The notes for 36.0.1 are completely different. Firefox — Notes (36.0.1) — Mozilla

Actually, 36.0.3 notes are updated 36.0.1 notes: it seems like new changes for a chemspill are placed on top and older changes are moved to their proper section (NEW, CHANGED, HTML5, DEVELOPER, FIXED). So, on the 36.0.3 notes you will find the 36.0.3 changes on top and the 36.0.1 changes even below original release notes.

Looks like buffering/decoding tradeoffs are all over the place these days (re: bugs on HD video stuttering).
36.0.4? LOL and thanks. Just what else did they disclose at Pwn2Own?
