"Muted" vertical stripes starting in Nightly of 18 Oct
I didn't update anything but Fx or change anything else in my system.
I've tested it on three machines and it occurs on all three:
1. Win 7/64 - Matrox m9128 graphics card
2. Win 7/64 - nVidia Quadro FX 1800 graphics card
3. Win XP/32 - Matrox m9125 graphics card
It does not happen with yesterday's 32-bit beta.
It's somehow definitely related to my theme (Red Cats ...) because it doesn't occur with the Default theme. I'll also mention it on the forum thread for the theme.
Having said this, though, there was no change in the theme between 17 and 18 Oct, so the theme got broken by a change in Fx.

Try disabling e10s, as it can be caused by APZ.

Re: "Muted" vertical stripes starting in Nightly of 18 Oct
Thanks. This is quite amazing.
A bit of background: As far as I know, I've always had e10s turned off, and on the (several) occasions when I turned the feature on to see if it works, Fx always crashed immediately upon opening and became unusable.
Well, I just set the following settings to "True" (they had all been "False"):
browser.tabs.remote.autostart
browser.tabs.remote.autostart.1
browser.abs.remote.autostart.2
OK, I've just looked at Options -> General -> Startup and "Enable Multi-process Nightly" is checked!
In any case, as of this moment, Fx hasn't crashed (I've even tried a flash movie).
Unfortunately, my "muted stripes" issue is still present.
By the way, what's APZ? Can I turn it on or off to test it?
Thanks again.

Heh, you done vice versa, as you enabled e10s, not disabled,
but seems e10s it's not that cause here.
About APZ you can read in detail here - https://wiki.mozilla.org/Platform/GFX/APZ, in simplest way it's to make Firefox more snappier
and to disable it just set layers.async-pan-zoom.enabled as false in about:config (FYI-this preference it's only respected when e10s is enabled).
In the end I have no idea what changes broke your theme looking on changelog - The Official Win32 20151018 builds are out,
you must wait for theme masters to come into this thread

Yes, that's what I wanted to do in order to test if that was the problem.Virtual_ManPL wrote:Heh, you done vice versa, as you enabled e10s, not disabled, ...

Thank you. Yep, that looks like it. I saw your comment on the other bug; I guess mine is now a dupe.Alice0775 wrote:Maybe https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1216200

Bug 1211363 - the fix is worse than the problem.

Indeed, with the latest fix, even more nicer patterns are produced, but not something that resembles a box shadow...
I have reopened bug 1211363.

It is not just themes that suffer from this. See attachment in the bug for an example with my banking site.
