Adobe Flash Player 21.0.0.130 Beta crashing

Post by streetwolf »

Once again flash is crashing at some sites with this new beta. Stick with the last non-beta version 20.0.0.286. Same problem as in http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=2984165

I've been using the Flash betas with Nightly forever (always with HWA off) and I've never had a problem.

My GPU is an nVidia Quadro FX 1800. Version 21.0.0.130 works fine on my machine.

HWA being turned off is probably why you never had the problem. :D Is your graphic card blacklisted for HWA or you just decided not to use HWA?

I guess I turned it off when I read once upon a time that other people were having trouble with it.

I just turned it on, though - to test - and on my own website (e.g. http://edu-net.net/media/balcony/ WARNING "movie of my cats :D), on CNN, and on der Spiegel, I didn't experience any crashes - in a very quick test.

I must confess, though, I never visit any sites that are particularly Flash heavy or "questionable".

It crashing mostly when you try to go in fullscreen mode. It's just another issue that Adobe simply don't care about for many versions.
Virtualfox persona
Tired of constant Firefox UI changes? XUL extensions are not working anymore? Try SeaMonkey, Waterfox Classic, Pale Moon.

On my site, the Spiegel, and CNN, full screen didn't produce a crash. What can I say?

Maybe it really does have to to do with your system. By the way, as I guess you can see from my signature, I'm still using Win7 (x64).

Can't wait for the day Flash becomes just a flash in the pan.

Most don't cause a crash, some sites are notorious and will crash every time you try to go fullscreen; This one for example: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=46c_1432935902

I can't say it's my favorite Internet techology, but since I really haven't had any major personal problems with it, it's just one of those things that there and seems to help when I need it.

To a degree, and for better or worse, it's certainly fostered video use.

Sort of reminds me of the old doctor joke:
The patient says, "Doctor, it hurts when I do this." The doctor says, "Then don't do that!" (http://www.funny2.com/henny.htm)

What do you need to do to make this crash. I had no problems when following your link and switching between a window a full screen and back. Several times in the same session. I had no trouble.

Try playing a video at weather.com. You might have to turn on HWA either in Flash or in Fx if it isn't already. I never had to go fullscreen to get it to crash.

Weird - weather.com won't even load the page, just blank gray squares in the latest m-c win32 hourly on win7 x64 non-e10-s

No the release version - Just went back to the Jan31 m-c win32 build, and started in safe-mode still just blank gray squares.... ](*,)

Never ran into this one - I'll keep plugging backward here...

Something is busted in this old profile I guess - a new profile at least loads page, not taken time to test flash vids yet... Guess its time to figure out what settings I have in this old thing and rebuild *sigh*

EDIT: Interesting - I've have had pref: geo.enabled;false set to false forever. Doing a 'reset' on this pref restored the loading of the site.
