Respin is out: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0 ID:20160616163918 CSet: 5f95858f8ddf21ea2271a12810332efd09eff138

And printing works again..

And Nightly from the same Cset: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0 ID:20160617030217 CSet: 5f95858f8ddf21ea2271a12810332efd09eff138

Opening local files on Windows doesn't work. I just went to a pinned tab opened to a file and the file doesn't load. (Today's Nightly on Windows 7 fails. I'm not sure when it last worked.)
Access to the file was denied
The file at ///fileserver/users/home/dddddd/ddddddd.html is not readable.
It may have been removed, moved, or file permissions may be preventing access.
This works in Chrome and used to work in Nightly. I find the file with File/Open File...l, but the open fails. I tried using a mounted volume (Q:) pointing to the same place and that also fails.

@bjherbison,

Just on pinned tabs or all tabs? There may be conditions where Firefox will not let you do as you are trying to do, but I could be wrong.

I shouldn't have mentioned the pinned tab. That's how I noticed the problem, but the same behavior exists on non-pinned tabs.

I've seen the problem today on some local files and some network mounted files, but I've opened some local files.

This did work: The remote file I first noticed a problem with I've had open in Nightly for years (and in Chrome). It's my handy cross-browser, cross-user list of URLs and test scripts.

Thank you for locating the bug, Alice. I didn't file it myself as I was surprised no one had filed it and was looking for a problem on my side.

The reason I though no one had filed it is a search for "file" or "file:" or "file://" didn't (and still doesn't) pick up bug 1211873. (I guess I should go file a Bugzilla bug report. But dinner first.)

Have a happy and crash-free weekend everyone!
