In reference to Firefox. What does EME free mean in the filename for Firefox?

That, what you said, in pretty much what I understood. But why would anyone want to use a program that won't display some videos? Free, opensource folks perhaps? :-)

It looks to be more of a legal issue using HTML5

More here > Encrypted Media Extensions (EME) is a W3C draft specification for providing a communication channel between web browsers and digital rights management (DRM) agent software.[1] This allows the use of HTML5 video to play back DRM-wrapped content such as streaming video services without the need for third-party media plugins like Adobe Flash or Microsoft Silverlight. EME is prolly closed source? i dunno

EME free should mean that the firefox does not bundle with those EMEs found in about:addons > plugins. (Current there are 3 provided by Cisco, Adobe, and Google)
You may not be able to watch some videos on the net, but it is more a privacy and security concern (the codes are not provided by Mozilla).
