From the 2016-09-05 thread:
Peja Stija wrote:Just for info, For the people that, like me, had constant "micro-hangs" every couple of seconds when browsing around, in my case, the add-on "Self-Destructing Cookies" was the cause.
Since I dumped this add-on, no more constant hiccups and browser hangs for a couple of hours now.

Forget about above, they are back although less frequent.
Could be a contributing factor, though, the root cause may be something else.

Have you seen the issue in a brand new profile?

I'm in the process of "building up to my likings" the new profile, so far runs fluent.

Something off-topic to this issue. Is it normal, when using a portable version of nightly with it's own profile (I have the stable installed normally) that about:profiles sees the wrong profile as being in use (it tells me it is using the one that is used by the release version), while about:support DOES correctly recognize my separate portable nightly profile in use when I click "Show Folder" ?
I wonder how much of the FF-internals wrongly detect the actual profile folders and screw up both the regular stable and the portable nightly that way. :-k

I suspect the internals rely on the registry, which makes using a normal install + a separate portable install the perfect recipe for disaster, no matter how clean one tries to keep their browsers, and no matter how good one sticks to the rules about installing a portable version.

Firefox portable shoud only see the profile that is shown in the FirefoxPortable.ini file. The contents of that file are
[FirefoxPortable]
FirefoxDirectory=App\firefox
ProfileDirectory=Data\profile
SettingsDirectory=Data\settings
PluginsDirectory=Data\plugins
FirefoxExecutable=firefox.exe
AdditionalParameters=
LocalHomepage=
DisableSplashScreen=true
AllowMultipleInstances=false
DisableIntelligentStart=false
SkipCompregFix=false
RunLocally=false

# The above options are explained in the included readme.txt
# This INI file is an example only and is not used unless it is placed as described in the included readme.txt

Yeps, so looks mine, however about:profiles shows the 3 profiles of my "normal" stable FF install.

Maybe someone can confirm that about:profiles is "hard coded" to look at the defined location for Firefox profiles (default: C:\Users\(users_name)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles in win7).

Opening this BBC News page in a new tab hung my browser. The page started very zoomed in, then went back to normal.

@ Peja Stija & WildcatRay - I would say it still a Firefox regression, even if some addon is causing this, as it didn't happen before
Peja Stija maybe if you have reliable STR, could you get it on Gecko Profiler?

Tired of constant Firefox UI changes? XUL extensions are not working anymore? Try SeaMonkey, Waterfox Classic, Pale Moon.

I believe this is the expected behavior, I do see Developer Edition and Nightly in there.
