Does this actually make any difference in the results for you? Here a search for either LALALA or lalala show the same results here.

Yes, it does. Because I have search engines added where it is important that search results stay upper case. Thats why Im asking for a solution.

I just tried four common Internet search engines and I could not make any of them only display results in upper case. Sorry.

?

Go to http://www.google.com, type "LALALA" in the search field and press enter. "LALALA" will stay upper case in the search field.

Now do a search through the location bar on google for "LALALA". You will see that "LALALA" goes lower case in the search field because the browser is converting it from upper- to lower-case.

I use the location bar to search through item numbers on shop sites. The item numbers are case sensitive in these shops. So when I search for "ITEM001" it will be converted to "item001" and the shop does not find any result.

It pretty much looks like there has been a patch lately to the location bar to automatically convert all requests from upper- to lower-case. Fine.. no problem for me. But just leave an option to bring it back to old behaviour.

To be more accurate:

- Iam using Firefox 64 Bit Developer Edition (Aurora build!)
- Last working build is from 17th October: https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox ... la-aurora/
- First defective build is from 18th October: https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox ... la-aurora/

CONFIRMED by testing right now.

Does nobody really has an idea what to do, to fix that mess and am I really the only one who is facing the problem aka needs uppercase location bar searches?

It appears so. Whatever I type into my search window(s), however I type it, is what shows up on the results page.

"LALALA" remains all caps and "ITEM001" remains all caps. I tried these in the current 50.0 beta, the Dev and the Nightly.

Maybe a misbehaving extension?

Great, thanks! You actually know what the problem is.

Can You add the information, that the problem starts with 18th october build on Firefox Aurora 64 Bit? I did not tried other builds/32-bit. I think the problem is coming from a fix between 17th and 18th october builds.

Now that is an interesting comment. I am using, more or less, the same Firefox version and I don't have any problem so I am doing something wrong?

Some how that does not make sense. :-)

Good luck.

Something wrong in understanding the topic ;-) As You can see from Alice0775's comment the bug is real and since I never change any settings/extensions in Fx and only switched the builds Im pretty sure everybody can see the bug.

Also let me quote bug tracker:
The problem occurs with newly created profile.

Reproducible: always
So yes, You are doing something wrong :-)

Well then. If you don't mind I'll just keep doing what it is that I do that is not broken, for me, in anyway and you and Alice(?) can sort out your own problem.

Okay?

Have a great week end.
