Hybrid legacy-WE builds needed to (only) do data migration will be cut with the arrival of Fx 57 too. So, whatever a WebExtensions build is in progress or they are still waiting for the required APIs, this step need be made as soon as possible.GHM113 wrote:Seriously: it seems to me it doesn't make sense to start data migration long before WebExtension is released

Note that uBO/webext will still be labelled as "Legacy" in about:addons, because uBO/webext is really a webext-hybrid extension. Once the legacy storage has been imported at first install by the thin legacy wrapper, uBO/webext will fully function as a pure webext extension despite the "Legacy" label.
Consequently this is what should happen:
August 2
uBO/webext-hybrid published on AMO's stable channel
uBO/webext published on AMO's dev channel
September 26
uBO/webext published on AMO's stable channel
Thank you, I hope NoScript WE will be released sooner rather than later.nohamelin wrote:Hybrid legacy-WE builds needed to (only) do data migration will be cut with the arrival of Fx 57 too. Re: Old Firefox Extensions Will Stop Working in Firefox 57,
uMatrix/legacy and uBO/legacy are already broken on current Nightly. I looked into it and it seems to be a serious issue, the modules aren't loaded into the content processes. At this point I won't try to investigate/fix this for Nightly, there is no point.

Re: Old Firefox Extensions Will Stop Working in Firefox 57,
@gorhill Thank you, that's valuable info! I was planning to install uMatrix from AMO if NoScript WE won't be available by August 2nd, now I'll install uMatrix WE from github instead.
Nice to hear, thank you!The Tinsmith wrote:Your English is fine

Re: Old Firefox Extensions Will Stop Working in Firefox 57,
Thanks but. Not to be really 'dumb' here but I have had the 'developer edition' installed, for a long time for that reason. Is that what you mean?Lurtz wrote:Install the WebExtension when using Nightly. The Tinsmith wrote:Which means what?I won't try to investigate/fix this for Nightly, there is no point.

That is the version that I have installed but mine came from AMO and was found under the Development Channel section.
