I don't think it needs to be compatible. After Firefox 57 is released there is no longer any question of compatibility. :-)

BTW. Firefox 57 won't let you install incomparable (Legacy) extensions.

really - please - who need such crap? ACR was not reliable - either flagged compatible with a firefox version say nothing if it would work bugfree. the opposite was often. same for NTT (nightly tester tools). backup profile, install, and test. or read comments on AMO page should help ;)

I found Nightly Tester Tools not only very reliable, but also very useful. So, you're wrong on that one.

One especially depressing thing about Firefox disabling almost all its extensions, even apart from so much a browser's worth measured in the depth of its library like this: a lot of people have kept using Firefox because of FireFTP. Chrome as far as I can see has no competitor whatsoever.

You use that, do you? I do, but for some reason I always thought it was a Linux only program.

Yes I do. Not as often as I used to use it however.
It is multi platform.

And it works no matter how Mozilla "put the word/phrase here" Firefox. :-)

When I used to work at the local community college, the recommended browser was Firefox, but for the occasional class were students were asked to upload their code, the recommended FTP client was FileZilla, which we installed on the PCs in some of the classrooms. For the I.T. staff uploading and downloading files from the Sun Solaris servers, we used FTP Voyager.
