Re: Old Firefox Extensions Will Stop Working in Firefox 57,
Hi.
Here is a wider mock-up of the new design.
https://mozilla.invisionapp.com/share/A ... /225203398
Found it on one of bugzilla tickets.
The major thing that makes me sad is that it looks like sub-menus will be accessible only via Click instead of regular hover (there is a separate back button on top of every sub-menu on those screens).
This makes all menus (especially Bookmarks menu) less usable comparing to current implementation.
IMHO for Touch mode such approach sounds logical but for everything else - just weird.

Andreas, are we are of what, if anything, Flashgot are planning for e10s compat?
I don't like this at all. It doesn't make sense to port FlashGot to e10s with WebExtensions API just around the corner. It looks like Maone has to port FG to e10s because WebExtensions API won't be mature enough for extensions like FlashGot, NoScript, Tab Mix Plus, TST, etc in the next 50 yearsIt's undergoing, even though lagging a bit behind because NoScript is a higher priority.
Sorry for my poor English.

Re: Old Firefox Extensions Will Stop Working in Firefox 57,
AFAIK Maone's just always taken his time when it comes to things like rewriting extensions. If DownThemAll can go WebExt then FlashGot will have no problem doing the same.GHM113 wrote:https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1344007#c9Andreas, are we are of what, if anything, Flashgot are planning for e10s compat?I don't like this at all. uBlock Origin and AdBlock Plus Web Extension will use similar architecture so ABP will finally catch up to uBO in terms of performance
WebExtensions lack APIs for the most basic functions and actions so it is impossible to port even adblockers to WE without compromises
1. Will AdBlock Plus Web Extension finally catch up to uBlock Origin in terms of performance? More info in this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1280368
2. Will ABP Web Extension differ from ABP e10s in terms of security (ABP WE won’t be able to block something ABP e10s can block, etc)?
As far as I understand that means:1. If you are referring to blocking via observers – yes, there will be no other way with Web Extensions. The bug you are referring to can just as well be resolved, it no longer matters. This directly relates to your second question however.
2. Ideally – no. But that depends on Mozilla to a large part, there are still issues with the Web Extension platform to be resolved. Note that e10s is irrelevant here, classic ABP works the same with e10s both on and off.

Those who don't know about uBlock Origin, of course. I've been using ABP for a long time and uBO is so much faster it is not even funnyArch5 wrote:adblock PLus ? who still uses that?
