Gorhill compares uBlock Origin WebExtension and uBO for Chrome in terms of adblocking capabilities:
https://discourse.mozilla-community.org ... 1?u=ghm113
the reason why i use firefox is that it used to have superior adblocking capabilites compared to chrome (could block some ads that chrome cant and lower overhead through adblocking)
will this still be the case when in firefox 57 ublockO will be an webext ?

Yes:
Chromium-based browsers do not support user styles
Chromium-based browsers can’t block data: URI-based requests through the webRequest API.
Chromium-based browsers are being “infested” by Instart Logic tech which works around blockers and worst, around browser privacy settings (they may start “infecting” Firefox eventually, but that is not happening now).
I am not aware of any anti-fingerprinting initiative taken up with Chromium, unlike with Firefox1.
Etc.

There is much more I could list here. It baffles me that some people thinks Firefox is becoming a “Chrome clone”, it’s just not the case, it’s just plain silly to make such statement.

Sorry for my poor English.

Yes, they do. They support their version of the Firefox's userContent.css, what they don't support is the userChrome.css that changes the 'chrome' or UI stuff. Mind you, I doubt that Firefox will for much longer either.

What I had in mind when I said "user styles" is CSS styles injected in a web page which are guarantee to override a page style.[1] This makes it impossible to implement reliable cosmetic filtering on Chromium-based browsers. It's rock-solid with Firefox.

"FX55rc: All my Extensions are marked LEGACY: Am I Screwed?"
@That includes ones that supposedly are 57 compatible.

It is a warning. Those marked OK for 57 are/will be. The others will, eventually, stop working with 57.

No. That would leave the people who have read it, or posted in it, totally lost and confused and to anyone else it would make no difference either way. i.e. things have to have a reason.
