Ever since restarting FF tonight, to install the most recent Nightly (16 Apr), I've gotten strange behavior that I thought I had eliminated.
When I type in a url in the urlbar, the first suggestion is to simply go to the simple URL. Also, at the bottom of the search suggestions are icons for the search engines I have installed.
Now I thought that making the browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete entry in about:config would get rid of that. I checked it, and it is false, but I'm still seeing those two items.
Is this just a bug in the latest Nightly, or did this feature get renamed to something else?

Maybe the preference no longer works, but hasn't been removed.
I don't see browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete in about:config using today's build.
Toggling might work.

Code: Select all

Re: Search issues in URL bar with today's Nightly update
I just upgraded a few minutes ago to today's build (17 Apr) and in my profile (one set up for Nightly) it is there. I did check.
Isn't autocomplete for expanding what you have already typed into the URL bar, based on recency? I did try it, and it did "work," but only be eliminating everything from the URL bar---including autocomplete, and any search suggestions, both of which I'd like to keep.

Support for browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete has been removed in Firefox 49+.
