Discussion about official Mozilla Firefox builds

I tried to check one of my stored passwords, so I went to Options and clicked on Privacy and Security. It stayed on the General screen. All the other choices worked, but click on on Privacy & Security leaves displayed whatever other option I last chose. I tried adding #privacy #security and #privacysecurity, but none produce the right screen. Is this related to the offline cache bug or something new?
Hi FloridaMatt !
Let's try Firefox in Safe Mode :
If Firefox is not running :
Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
If Firefox is running :
3-bar menu => ' ? ' (at the bottom of the dropdown) => 'Restart with Add-ons disabled'.
Then OK the restart.
A small dialog should appear.
Click 'Start in Safe Mode' ( not 'Refresh' !)
See : https://support.mozilla.org/t5/Procedures-to-diagnose-and-fix/Troubleshoot-Firefox-issues-using-Safe-Mode/ta-p/1687
Any difference ?
No difference in safe mode, still can't access privacy&Security
Bummer ! I was sooo hoping that this would do the trick .....
I could tell you to Refresh Firefox, as explained in this article :
but I'm a bit reluctant about that.
My advice (for now) : let's wait and see if somebody else had a better idea (keeping my fingers crossed !).
....... can't let it go.
What if you type in the address bar : 'about:preferences#privacy' (without the commas, of course) ? And : 'about:preferences#security' ?
But maybe you've tried that already ......
I've been searching and searching, but can't find anything that's even remotely related to this problem.
Tried both, and #privacysecurity as well (since they are now one menu item; they are two on the current firefox release).
Is this broken for anyone else, or just me?
I've just sent a private message to somebody, asking for help.
Don't know when he'll read it, and if he has the time or even wants to do this ......
I don't know if anyone else has the same problem; like I said : I've searched and searched, and couldn't find anything remotely related to this.
But : I'm not the brainiest person on the planet - this may be a piece of cake to somebody else ......
Keeping my fingers crossed ...... (and I'll do some more 'research')
Working for me on today's nightly. Have you tried a new profile?

Brilliant idea : new profile !
The fellow contributor I asked for help, couldn't think of anything either (bummer !)
Just found this :
Try to rename/remove the prefs.js file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all preferences.
Bug 1355795 - about:preferences#privacy is broken with browser.cache.offline.enable=false
Note that it is about:preferences#privacy (Privacy & Security).
They have made the page rather long with Privacy and Security and Advanced all on one page.
I could use some menu to quickly go to a specific section without the need to use the scroll bar (e.g. click an item in the left bar to expand this section and show the various sections).
You know, we have a knowledge base as well... http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_manager
