Do you have any addons installed in the profile by any chance? I'm wondering if an addon is misbehaving.fuxxi wrote:@sciguyryan: Everything fine here (Windows 10 CU / Fx 64 Bit)

Thanks, that may give me a starting point to investigate if this is an addon caused issue or not.
Cheers!

I also experienced that Nightly(32bit e10s) intermittently long freeze when close tabs/maximize & restore window size.sciguyryan wrote:Has anyone here noticed lockups associated with the nightlies over the last week or so? Lately I've noticed that Nightly occasionally locks up completely when doing things like loading or switching tabs. It bogs down this computer enough that it's difficult to even open task manager to kill the tab process.
Anyone seen anything like this? If so, does anyone have a bug?
Stylish is only installed, but no style added.

That sounds about right. Though I've never had the patience to see if the browser recovers. I usually kill the process and let it restart. It could just be something that happens with E10S. I can't get the profiler to run since it also ends up locked up during the event.Alice0775 wrote:I also experienced that Browser intermittently long freeze when close tabs/maximize & restore window size.sciguyryan wrote:Has anyone here noticed lockups associated with the nightlies over the last week or so? (Though it shouldn't affect #202340...)Alice0775 wrote:It looks true black in my eyes. However, the color picker shows #202340.
Do you set the color output dynamic range to "limited" in your display adapter's control panel?
Example: https://i.imgur.com/H3DEMZr.png
The option may be only available if you connect the monitor via HDMI (DVI should always use "full"). And this apply to RGB mode only (YCbCr should always use "full").
This option was not working properly for Nvidia drivers older than about 1 year ago. You need an external software (no longer available) to patch it.

But the color is true black in my eyes.

I do have that, especially going to anandtech forums... The browser literally freezes and i have to go to the task manager to kill the process that reaches 80-90% of CPU time. Then the tab closes. Very annoying. It seems e10s specific though.

That also sounds the same as what I'm experiencing over here. Do you happen to know if a bug has been filed for this? It could be quite important.msia2k wrote:sciguyryan wrote:Has anyone here noticed lockups associated with the nightlies over the last week or so? anandtech without any adblocking eats 60%CPU here but tab switching is not slow, plus its loaded with Flash ads, so if your not blocking Flash plus whatever else the site is doing it is possible that you could be getting slow tab switching.
Bug worthy ? Not sure, just looks like poor coding on the site perhaps.

Nope, it's black because we use eyes to view the world and not colour pickers.Omega X wrote:Its like that damned dress.

Its a muted navy color. If it looks black then your monitor is not calibrated correctly.
In addition, colour perception is affected by the colours adjacent to them and adjacent light colours ..i.e. white, will make all dark colours appear even darker. No geek with a colour picker is ever going to overturn 2,000+ years of accepted art rules with anything different.
Even the % area covered by a colour affects our perception of it. That's why people get a shock when they paint a wall purple or orange and it looks dreadful compared to the 1 foot square colour sample they tried out when deciding on the colour.
For example, here is your navy blue -
How do you know it's navy blue? Because I just told you it was. In reality it is dark red, shifted into red by the same amount as #202340 was shifted to the blue.
Leaving aside the obvious that a UI of white against navy blue is not a great look, how would you usually do that? By taking the usual rules into account and making perception adjustments. Depending on the final % areas of both colours, you could well end up using something like #3D437A - which is not navy blue at all, but would look like it.

This new Screenshot addon turned out to be quite buggy, it doesn't work even on reddit

I'm not so convinced of that color choice, either. My biggest gripe with it is that dark and transparent favicons look very bad in combination with it. Further color options will alleviate this, but I don't know if this is the best way to present Firefox 57, which is supposed to be a milestone release, to users.
It's just too dark. I have a decent IPS monitor, I can't image what it'll look like on cheap TN panels.
