Firefox 54 release (32-bit)
54.0 (32-bit)
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:54.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/54.0 ID:20170605134926
My Firefox updated to the version above.
Is this now considered the "release" version? Is this now generally available to everybody?
If not, does anyone know when this is happening, and why mine updated? It does not mention beta or RC, or anything like that.
Also, it seems to still be on (32-bit). Is there an automatic process to go to 64-bit, or is there a separate download? Or should this just be avoided for now?
Thanks.

Re: Firefox 54 release (32-bit)
No, version 54 is not yet a release version. The current release is 53.0.3.
Use menu path Help->Troubleshooting information and check the fifth item down in the blue list on the left where it says "Update channel". I think you'll find something other than "Release" in the field to the right of that entry. If you want to switch to the standard, release channel, you can download the current version from this site -- https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
Close all applications and reboot the computer.
Shutdown any anti-virus software you are running.
Delete the directory C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Run the installer.
Restart the anti-virus program.

Re: Firefox 54 release (32-bit)
Sure enough, it says the channel is "beta".
Though, when I go to Help: About Firefox, it does not mention "beta", though it did up until now. The last was 54 beta 13, or something like that. Why would they strip the "beta" off the description?
Also, there used to be an extension "update channel changer", or something similar. That no longer works, so I am stuck on this "channel" now?
I'm fine with the betas for now. They have not been too problematic. When will 64 bit installs happen?

Re: Firefox 54 release (32-bit)
Firefox 54.0 is scheduled for Release on June 13.
64-bit or Win64 Firefox for Release has existed since Firefox 42.0 while Win64 builds were on the Beta, Aurora and especially Nightly channel for much longer.
Firefox since 51.0 ? has shown if you have 32-bit or 64-bit in About Firefox. As a result some people thought they had 64-bit all along and thought were downgraded to 32-bit in a Firefox update when they already had 32-bit.
Up til Firefox 52.0 any Windows user downloading from http://www.mozilla.org would get a stub installer which was 32-bit. If you wanted a full offline installer on Windows whether 32-bit or 64-bit you need to go to http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Firefox 53.0 and later has a new stub installer served on http://www.mozilla.org that should install 32-bit or option of 64-bit if you have 64-bit Windows 7, 8 (8.1), 10.
If you prefer to use Beta channel builds instead of Release and want Win64 then http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/beta/all/ otherwise install the current Release to be on Release channel.

They strip the "beta" when it enters the Release Candidate phase.DN123ABC wrote:Though, when I go to Help: About Firefox, it does not mention "beta", though it did up until now. The last was 54 beta 13, or something like that. Why would they strip the "beta" off the description?

Re: Firefox 54 release (32-bit)
Firefox 54 beta 13 updates to 54 (RC1) automatically. In other words Firefox 54 is available for beta users earlier. RC1 might become release version, but it also might get RC2, RC3... updates before that.
No need for troubleshooting, reverting or uninstalling/reinstalling anything.

Re: Firefox 54 release (32-bit)
Still stuck on 20170605 version of 54.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:54.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/54.0 ID:20170605134926
Will it move beyond this as it goes through various versions of "RC" releases, or do I have to now wait for beta to go to 55?

No more RCs are scheduled... your next update should be to Firefox 55 Beta 1 (on wednesday) or Beta 2 on friday.

Until they release 55.0b1 next week, or another 54.0 release candidate.
