limiting processes for firefox is not wise - let firefox handle it if you wont experience trouble.

I have it set to eight content processes and I've been fine so far as I can tell or do you mean something else about limiting the content processes?

firefox is putting up to 4 tabs on each process - more tabs > more processes. less process = more tabs/process -> process crash -> more tabs lost. similar for addons.
thats different to chrome(ium) - each tab = single process, cant crash another tab. ofc means more memory usage - but who cares with 16gig. with 2gig may concern, but not with more.

thats what i always write - dont screw on things you dont understand at all. above is my last knowledge point.

Where does one get these numbers, and how does one adjust them? Have never done any sort of "tuning" like this before. Thanks.

You don't adjust them especially if you know nothing about what they do. I worked as a tech for a number of years and most of my work was from people who thought they could "Improve" things with ridiculous changes like deleting half of a program because it was taking up too much space. Leave things alone is the best free advice you will ever get. After that it costs $120 for the first hour or part there of. Another freebie is clean your desktop of all those unused icons sheesh some people screens look like chickenpox and they all use a tiny bit of computer resource.
