When I get a site that loads slow, I'll start Fx in safe-mode and try it. It always loads fast. It also loads fast in MS Edge. The problem with disabling my add-ons one at a time is that the page might suddenly load fast even with all my add-ons enabled. Anyone seeing slow loading of pages?
if its been happening recently (since some of the new tab animations dropped) then it might be related to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1397092
Look at my post at the end of the bug report you cited. See if you get the spinner as I always do.

RE: My problem above. If anyone is using bitwarden let me know if you get the spinner at the site in the bug report. If yes, disable bw and see if you still get the spinner. Thanks.

If you're talking about a small blue microsoft loading spinner then yes I see it too (on both Nightly and my 56.0b10 installs, both 64bit) like its trying to load something but can't, however I don't use Bitwarden

If I right click on Library or Downloads button on the toolbar it opens up two menus (for right click and left click). This is how it is supposed to work ?

Do you use uBLOCK Origin? Seems this also causes the spinner. Perhaps other add-ons do this as well. A new profile works perfectly at the site in question.

uBlock, uMatrix, Tampermonkey and Stylus all cause the problem, having any one of those enabled when the page loads cause me to see the spinner

I will try and run mozregression again...
I ran the regression twice and both of my runs landed on Bug 1397236. There were a lot of inbound builds! It's too easy to click on the wrong button when indicating if a particular build was good or bad, so I thought running mozregression-gui twice was warranted.

Looks like this bug.. 1397399 – unable to reply to post at answers.microsoft.com with AdBlock Plus add-on enabled

It's funny because the other bug report they mention in comment 4 was opened by me!

Not at all. I just reported that as Bug 1398390 - Regression: Right click on Library or Download icon produces TWO menus instead of one.

That new Highlights feature feels creepy. I need to find a technical explanation.

So, is anyone else having this problem. For the past week - nightly says it is updating every time I start it. the About Nightly screen always has the "Restart to update Nightly" radio button on it.Downloading and installing the current Nightly build does fix the problem.
I know I've seen this before but I'll be fracked if I can remember how to fix this ...
Any help or advice would be appreciated by this olde pharte.

Does it happen if you update Nightly, exit, and restart immediately?

Remember that "Nightly" is now updated twice a day so there are more updates than before.

Yes - it happens if I updated, exited, and restarted right away.
I've even gone so far as to update, exit, and reboot my machine, restarting Nightly after this results in it trying to install a new update.

opening, exiting, new update install on start - repeats this if I do this 5 times in a row. Something is stuck somewhere.

I"m going to uninstall and reinstall after a reboot and see if it still does it.

Kenn

edited to add - today it installed an new update when I started Nightly - it downloaded a full install file instead of the partial as I've been away from the 'puter for two days (OMG the withdrawl was horrific  ). When nightly restarted - the help About screen was fine. - go figure
