Ho my god why do they keep wanting to change folder icon color and why don't they respect what the os is using !?
I don't really care but I think it looks outdated. ;-)

No luck with NoScript until the author decided to release compatible version.

As per suggested, I tried uMatrix 1.0.1rc2, but it still exhibit the same blank drop down similar to UBO after I click the uMatrix icon.
Image :?
Any idea?

Bad news for those who hide "Search with..." and "Visit ..." at Location Bar / AwesomeBar using userChrome.css

The good news is:

Code: Select all

#PopupAutoCompleteRichResult .autocomplete-richlistitem[actiontype="visiturl"]{display:none!important}
#PopupAutoCompleteRichResult .autocomplete-richlistitem[actiontype="searchengine"]{display:none!important}
These two above still works, however.......

#PopupAutoCompleteRichResult .autocomplete-richlistbox {max-height:none!important;height:auto!important}
The code colored in blue above failed to hide two blanks rows at bottom as shown in screenshot below.
Image
The CSS code worked before updating to 57b3.

uBlock Origin also has an empty pop-up panel when clicking on its icon?

It sounds suspiciously like a bug or a bad interaction between extensions or an undesired side-effect of a setting in your userChrome.css.

I don't have the Beta version of Firefox installed to test it out. All I can say is that I see what I expect to see when I click the uBlock Origin icon in both Nightly 58.0a1 and Release 55.0.3.

Maybe someone else who has Beta Firefox and uBlock Origin could report what they see when they click on the uBlock Origin icon. At least that would suggest if the problem is unique to your setup or is a more general issue.

First cut at debugging is trying to remember all the changes you made between the last time the extension pop-up panel worked and when it first didn't work. What did you tweak (about:config: userChrome.css?) add, remove, change filters in uBlock Origin? Etc.? It could be that a recent change had an undesirable side effect.

It might not be a change you made; an extension update, even a "system extension" (Mozilla-written) update, or a Firefox update, could have also occurred.

If undoing recent changes doesn't fix the situation, you might have to engage in some systematic testing, starting with a brand new profile for Firefox Beta, add uBlock Origin, click on the uBlock Origin icon, and see if the pop-up panel has text or if it is empty. Try setting all the uBlock Origin options and filters like you have in your regular Beta profile, and retest. If the pop-up panel has text, add your userChrome.css file to that profile, restart Firefox Beta (still on that new profile) and see if it has changed. Add extensions and retest. It could take a whole evening, or you might stumble on the problem early in the testing.

Please post on your progress or at least what you had time to try and the results. Who knows, you might talk me into installing the Beta to test this out when it isn't so close to my bedtime.

So, I create a virtual machine and start with fresh state without userchrome.css etc.
Both UBO and uMatrix still exhibiting same blank drop down with 57b3.

That's odd. You got me curious so I just downloaded Beta 57.0b3 (64-bit) to my Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit) machine, did a custom install, used it to create a new profile, added uBlock Origin (AMO release channel) and uMatrix (AMO beta channel), did absolutely no customization of either uBlock Origin or uMatrix, and when I left-click on either of their icons I see the pop-up panel filled with what I would expect.

I'm not running in any virtual machine, however.

If you go into Big Mac Menu (it looks more like a Big Mac than a hamburger to me) -> Options -> "General" side-tab, scroll down to Performance, UN-check "Use recommended settings" to reveal performance-related settings, then UN-check "Use hardware acceleration when available", and then shut down Firefox Beta and then restart Firefox Beta, are the pop-up panels for uBlock Origin and uMatrix still empty? (The gpu is the first thing that comes to mind; some virtual machines do odd things when applications try to talk directly to the hardware. Also, some gpu drivers have issues, whether or not one's environment is virtualized. Turning off "hardware acceleration" should take the gpu and its drivers out of the equation.)

If it isn't the gpu (by turning off hardware acceleration), we may have to start comparing notes on our specific environments.

Sorry, but I am posting this from Beta 57 so I can compare User Agents with ashleylai87, and I see no difference.

Next guess would be an antivirus package sticking an extension into Firefox. ashleylai87, do you see any additional extensions if you look at the Add-ons -> Extensions page, or just the two extensions you explicitly added (uBlock Origin and uMatrix)?

Darn it, I found the issue.
It is caused these three prefs:
apz.allow_zooming
apz.overscroll.enabled
apz.popups.enabled

Need to force these three to false

and as for the virtual machine....yeah, gpu acceleration problem.

Those three preferences were false in the new profile I created for Beta.

Anyway, I'm glad you found the problem! I hope you don't need those settings. If you had set them for testing, maybe the results should be reported back so the Asynchronous Panning and Zooming developers are aware of this issue.

I suspect using Customize to remove Flexible Space from the configuration will solve the problem.

Flexible spaces were added to the left of the address bar and to the right of the search bar. Just use customize to remove them, if you wish.

Haven't been following the 'WebRender' stuff too close, not really understanding what it is for sure but...

Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1389000 has landed and should be in today's Nightly <-Turn on layers-free by default

Nope, this is the huge space on the left hand side of the tab bar.
