Why does this play in Edge but not in my 58 0b11 x64 FF

In FF just get solid colours then change of solids.

Is it my FF set up?

It played for me in both Nightly 59.0a1 (2017-12-14) (64-bit) and Beta 58.0b11 (64-bit) running on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit).

As a test (or a couple of tests):

1. Try disabling hardware acceleration in FF and see if it plays.

2. Try playing it with Firefox running in "Safe" mode.

The results of the above tests may give us additional thoughts.

I disabled Hardware Acc and yes it worked after closing down and opening up again.

If turning off hardware acceleration caused the video to play correctly, you may want to check if you can download newer gpu drivers from the video card manufacturer. Generally, the manufacturer will have newer and complete drivers, whereas Windows Update often have older drivers or even incomplete drivers.

If you can get newer drivers from the gpu (graphics card) manufacturer and install them, you could check again to see if turning hardware acceleration has the problem or if the problem is cleared up. (Again, as you observed, shutting down and then restarting Firefox is needed whenever you change the "Hardware acceleration" setting.)

I need Fireftp for my work as I have used it for ages. It is now gone. Is there any version of FF that it will work in?

On one box I need a very basic FF but Ftp is important by the hour.

why not just download a Normal FTP client?

As Mouse5 suggests there are two ftp programs from Mozilla. The interface is very much the same.

FireFTP - runs in the browser/tab as an addon

FireZilla - stand alone program independent of the browser/version and would free you from the browser version concern

Neither the FireFTP or the FileZilla FTP client are from Mozilla.

FireFTP like the majority of Extensions hosted at addons.mozilla.org is made by a third-party author. The author is not making it as a web extension either cannot or does not want to.

The open source FileZilla FTP client has no Mozilla involvement as it is made by Tim Kosse since June 2001 which started out as a computer science class project. I get why you think it was a Mozilla product or project due to zilla in name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FileZilla
