(I have not seen any crashes with the Nightly for the 13th, and I've visited a wide variety of pages.
Works in a new profile. Sigh.
From the 20-something crash reports my machine sent, it seems to be a WebRender thing. New profile has it switched off by default.
Thanks! Flipping gfx.webrender.all back to false did the trick.

Size of Nightly (64-bit) updates for Windows (64-bit)

If the file we are looking at is updates.xml in (in my case) C:\Users\Mark12547\AppData\Local\Mozilla\updates\6F193CCC56814779 and if we are looking at the line that starts out

Code: Select all

<patch selected="true" size=
then it looks like I have been getting pretty large updates, that most of the recent partial updates for en-US.win64 have been getting close to the size of full udpates.

In the table below, I have taken the buildID from the "-<update ..." line, then looked at the size (converted to MB by dividing by 1048576) and type from the "<patch selected=true ..." line and, either I am way off on reading the file, or there are some very large partial updates for Win64 en-US builds:

Code: Select all

   Build-ID Size Type
-------------- ------- --------
20180213220104 30.7 MB Partial (added Tuesday 5pm PST)
20180213100127 43.4 MB Partial
20180212220112 38.4 MB Partial
20180212100154 27.3 MB Partial
20180211220056 38.4 MB Partial
20180211100408 30.6 MB Partial
20180210220139 38.4 MB Partial
20180210100316 39.1 MB Partial
20180209220324 38.8 MB Partial
20180209102946 7.8 MB Partial
20180209005628 43.2 MB Complete
The patch updates (patch selected="true") of type="partial" also list the URL ending with partial.mar, whereas the complete update shows the selected patch having the URL end with complete.mar.

Am I the only one seeing these LARGE partial updates?

I see the same pattern for Linux, although the complete is 6+ MB larger than the largest partial instead of about the same size.

Aren't complete builds like 40 MB?

It depends on the platform. The 58 release for Linux is 51M, for Windows 64-bit is 38M. The latest beta is about the same.

My full Nightly was about the same if the FTP server is dividing the size by 1000^3. I was using 1024^3 for my numbers before.

Bug 1438152 has been resolved, and Nightly for en-US Win64 updated when I got home for lunch about 40 minutes ago and did a Help -> About Nightly.

The update was BuildID=20180214111549 and I received a 38.6 MB partial, not the 43.5 complete update.
