A question about disabling updates using the new method for portable/zip installations. I understand the method to completely disable the updates as specified by https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templ ... /README.md and using DisableAppUpdate policy (I created the policies.json file). This disables updates permanently.

My question is, how do I have the previous behavior of manually checking for updates with the ability to actually update? Previously I could go to Help->About Nightly->Check for updates. This seems to now say "Updates disabled by your system administrator" with no way of manually checking for updates.

A possible solution I see is also an insane solution whereby I would:
Undo everything I did (by removing DisableAppUpdate from policies.json) in order to update to a new build and then redo everything to disable updates until I want to manually update again. That I think would not be a good workaround.

Edit: Just wanting to elaborate that I don't want to get pestered by the notification for update for nightly every X number of mins. My usual way is to update nightly whenever I feel like it without being bothered by notifications to update. Typically I update every week with it sometimes stretching to a few weeks. Many times I do update daily as well. I just like the flexibility of having to choose when to update without getting nagged to death to update

Edit#2: Is app.update.interval the way to go with specifying an extremely large value?
