New feature in Nightly. Set a separate search engine for all of your private browsing sessions.

Turning on the new feature is easy. Install the latest Nightly build, then type ‘about:config’ in the URL bar, and accept the warning. In the search, type ‘browser.search.separatePrivateDefault’ and toggle ‘browser.search.separatePrivateDefault’ plus ‘browser.search.separatePrivateDefault.ui.enabled’ to true. From here, head to Preferences > Search and select your private browsing default search engine.

I don't see that, but it might be related to my customization. Do you have before/after images of what you see to share?

I replied too soon. I just restarted and when the focus is in the address bar the size of the bar increases--any tab, not just new tab. It seems intentional.

Interesting behavior: When I drag a window with the large address bar the bar shrinks to standard size during the drag but increases when the drag finishes.

Yikes. Here's hoping THAT doesn't make the cut.

Patches for megabar have been landing almost everyday. The patch enabling it landed a few hours ago and it's in the latest nightly. So, yes, it is intentional. (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1577541)

At least it's easy to disable it by toggling `browser.urlbar.megabar` to false

Wow... Firefox UI devs never cease to amaze me with their disgusting choices. At least they have pref to disable it this time...

I reported Bug #1585912 - Preference to control MegaBar have to be added to GUI Options/about:preferences,
but looks like Mozilla developers want to complete and wholly remove preference to control this feature even from about:config... ](*,)

Looks like in same time probably, when mozillaZine forum will be closed and I will be searching for its replacement, I will also have to look for browser replacement...
So good times... oh irony, but nothing lasts forever... :lildevil:

Ha, without flexible spaces this now hides the Home icon on the left and the Library Icon on the right behind an mega-ugly encroaching url bar ](*,)
In compact mode it even partially overlays the Reload button and the extension icons ](*,)
And of course, it also violates vertical layout boundaries by partially overlaying the tab and bookmark bar ](*,)
