Nightly version error??

Just curious if this is a known error? Not a big deal.
From Help/About Nightly the version shows 86.0a1 (2021-01-08)(64 bit) and I keep getting messages that there is an update. The update msg below the About Nightly indicates the same version with a newer date 2021-01-09.

That is correct, the version number does not change just the date of the Nightly.

Also Firefox up til the Fx 16.0.2 Release came out used to show the build date in the User Agent and not the 20100101 as it has done since. Firefox on the Nightly channel gets checkins and updates each day. The version stays the same (until a new version is started on channel) as how is the version suppose to change daily?

There is also a new Build-ID after each update. This can be viewed in Help -> Troubleshooting Information (or URL about:support), third item down in the first table (Application Basics).

Nightly Tester Tools extension/addon will also help you get the full version number.
