Thanks a lot, Bernd. Been rather busy lately. That helps quite a bit.

Hm. I'll get around to a new SVG build sometime... Hopefully.

I'm throwing in Anthracks' patch for directly copying images to the clipboard starting now, just to try that one out. And that referrer patch you linked to.

Oh well, there goes my plan. Guess I'll try building with gcc instead :?

If you want any suggestions for patches, here are the patches I'm using for my current build:

210910 - right-click bookmark bug
52916 - Floating text overlapping max-width elements
224416 - tabs don't remember focus
220807 - prompt user about invalid text/plain content
122698 - detect currently running instance when app is launched
55477 - pref to send http referrer
206180 - no indication of extension's enabled/disabled status in Options
219942 - plugins window should be resizable and retain its size

Btw, I haven't tested all of the possible settings, but the referrer patch seems to work fine in my builds.

new 10th of dec build is up with the new patches now: both work fine.

I tried copying my avatar to Photoshop and it worked.

The referrer patch worked too: you have to go to about:config and filter for "referer". Then network.http.sendRefererHeader will show up. You can set the integer value up to 6 now. 6 will show the referring page but strip off the last bits, so http://www.google.at/search?q=browser+r ... uche&meta=
will report www.google.at as referrrer. 5 will show the current domain (server?) as referrer. there is a nice browser test page that will report the referrer: http://asp.flaaten.dk/test/atest.htm
With the referrer option set to 5 this site will report http://asp.flaaten.dk/ as referrer. leet stuff, IMHO!

regression 228035 (from this morning) is fixed with this build now, regression 227951 is still there. Nice build, my new favourite!

So if this is for privacy purposes, what's the best value to have it set for? 6 or what? Thanks for bringing this patch forward for consideration.

You can set it to 0 to never send the referrer. I think that might break some anti-leech scripts, though, so you might try 5 or 7. Here are the options, straight from the patch:

0 - Never send the referrer
1 - Actions directly initiated by the user (e.g. clicking on a link)
2 - Images or other inline content
3 - NOT USED - remains for backwards compatability
4 - Send the referrer only for requests from the same host, otherwise send no referrer.
5 - Send the referrer only for requests from the same host, otherwise send target URI's pre-path as the referrer.
6 - Strip off the path from the referrer for 3rd party requests, otherwise leave it alone.
7 - Always send the target URI's pre-path as the referrer.

referer values

Post by Lost User 12105 »

Thanks a lot. When I followed amano's link to google, I found this site which tests a browser for security:
http://www.pcflank.com/
including whether the browser is passing this sort of information, so I can test what happens with the various options.

Edit: I first set the value to 6 and the browser test at the above site said referer info was being passed, then I set the value to 7 and the test said the info was _not_ being passed.

Edit2: Changed "referrer" to "referer" : )

Mike, I know too little about builds to try so that why I ask.
Is it possible to simply copy the files that have to do with svg into a non-svg build to make svg working there too ?
If so, which files would I need to copy and are there any files I need to manually edit in order to make this build know that the native svg files are in place ?

11th of dec build up!

nothing really new in there.

Tomorrow a workaround for the "growing add bookmark dialog" will be in. The dialog is resizeable now. And tomorrow the "Help" menu entry will change into "?" on windows *woot* ;)

They are currently working on implementing a XPInstall UI.

:-s What's the point of that? The standard on Windows is "Help", not "?", so changing it seems like a step backwards...

EDIT:
Found the bug: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=228163

Looks like it will only be the French version that has the change?

Hey- just sarcasm (nothing is woot) ;)

And the change is already backed out, therefore no "?" tomorrow.

But the standard on the German Windows and German Office is really "?".
But nothing to worry about, I felt like having to be sarcastic, when reading about this "bug" ;)

That test tells me the same thing. I think it tests whether the referrer is the specific page (http://www.pcflank.com/browser_test2.htm) prior to it in the test. If I click on the link to http://asp.flaaten.dk/test/atest.htm on this page, it tells me that "The page that referred you here was: http://asp.flaaten.dk/"

Ah. You have to checkout a special, modified tree, instead of the normal source code tree, if you want to build the latest SVG. (The trunk only holds the old renderer. The SVG Branch contains the newer GDI+ renderer and updates to the old Libart renderer.)

Hence, I have 2 trees, one for my usual builds, and an outdated SVG branch tree that I'll need to update first, to build one. I can't (or don't think I should) autobuild the SVG ones easily because I occasionally need to manually update, if there's an update to any of the SVG code that causes a bustage on the SVG branch. I'll get to it eventually if you can go out of your way to bother me enough about it. ;)

I'm 1) usually busy, and 2) easily sidetracked.
