Best 0.7 build for Linux on a P2?

Post by ja'far »

I'm running Mandrake 9.2 on a P2, ~350 MHz box. What would be the recommended build of Firebird 0.7? (Is i686 OK for P2 or would an i586 build work better?)

A Pentium II is an 80686 CPU, so I'm going to wager that the i686 build will be best for it.

Thanks momokatte - that was quick! (And do I sense a hint of irony there?)
Linux is love.

pentium pros and pentium IIs, IIIs, 4s, all celerons, and amds newer than k6s (I think) are all i686. Only pentium 1's and k6s where i586.

PII/400 256MB, running SuSE 8.2 pro. Formerly an SCO OpenServer development machine. Currently using it as my primary desktop machine. It's quick enough for my purposes. It has the fastest U2W LVD SCSI drive that was available in early 1999 when the machine was new.

I've been running the xft+ gtk2 0.7 Milestone build for quite some time on it. Currently running this xft+ gtk2 0.8 release candidate:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031220 Firebird/0.7+

Soon to start using the latest 0.8 release candidate.
