Still cannot install Java normal ways?!

Post by mpee »

I use latest build with installer but still cant get Java (jre 142) working without that register add-on.. Shame.. Shouldnt be too hard to add to installer that it makes register adds too right way.

Why is this still that way?

This is a valid point, but the installer is still quite new. I'd expect this to be added pretty soon. :)

AFAIK you don't need to do the registry patch when using the installer
see: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/faqs/phoenixwin.html
and it works for me......

I imagine that the thread starter was referring to the offical installer, which is found at http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ ... aSetup.exe

I only tested the installer once, so I can't say for sure. :)

This is Bug 229627. As a workaround, just use the registry fix.

I use the latest Java pluginn and I didn't have a problem (1.4.2_03)
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
I have used all available builds, both official and unofficial keeping my plugins directory intact
However, I had used the patch in the past, so I don't know if that did it :-k

Yup. Shockwave isn't supported on Linux, either. :(
