Request for Burning Edge Icon....

Post by sultanoswing »

It's always a pleasure to visit the Burning Edge (http://www.squarefree.com/burningedge/)........

But how about a nice site icon to go with the Firebird Homepage, the Forums Page and the Extension Room??

It's messing up my favourites Bar otherwise!!!!

:)

Simply create a bookmarks folder and copy your favourite URL's there.
Rightclick the folder and select "Open in Tabs".
What will happen next? You never know.

I'd like to have an icon. Any suggestions for an icon design? Or suggestions for an existing icon I could use (that other Mozilla sites don't use)?

Heck, just resize the Firebird icon to 16x16 and slap it on the sites.

Heh. This logo was kinda cool, too bad it's taken. :)

Slapping on the same Firebird icon wouldn't feel very innovative either. :(

Something like a knifeblade with the Mozilla flame in the background would probably be quite good.

What would a "firebird at night" icon look like?

I was thinking of taking the old Firebird icon (the one with the flames) and adding a transparency gradient so that the left side is fully transparent and the right side is opaque (except for any alpha transparency already in the icon). But I don't have the tools or skill to do that, and I'm not certain it would look good.

Almost, but not quite, entirely unlike the normal firebird icon.

If you want to use it, go ahead. If not, tell me why so I can make it better.

The icon ^^ is reasonable, but it's not really Firebird-y. If you could find some sort of ghost image of a bird and overlay it so that you could see a (fire)bird in the design, that would be cool. Right now it just looks like a moon to me.

I'm not much of a designer either, so the idea may or may not fly. Given that I don't have access to any image editing programs now either, I can't do much more than make (dubious) suggestions.

The thing is, a bird at 16x16 will be too small to make out with the moon and all that in the background. You wouldn't be able to tell the whole picture well enough.

The moon by itself though obviously represents night, and nightly builds. In the event that Burning Edge expands to other projects (TB, SeaMonkey, Sunbird, etc.) the same one could be used with slight modifications...

I took 16x16 parts of the old 32x32 Firebird icon:

Are they recognizable enough?
