I went and tried yesterday's official OSX build:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7a) Gecko/20040206 Firebird/0.8.0+

and find an old bug is back -- the 'login' button for spamcop.net does nothing.
(it's a script, used by several sites, has happened before with nightly builds)
and none of my stored passwords seem to have survived.
but some sites are still logging me in automatically.

So I'm going promptly back to your most recent OSX unofficial build.

----> Assuming I have to create a new profile (move my old one out,
run the new build so it creates a new profile folder) -- which
files can I safely copy back in from the saved old profile folder,
as an OSX user? I've gotten a LOT of answers to that question,
but never from someone who really understands the OSX build
files <-----

Hmmm, going back to your build:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040205 Firebird/0.7+ (MMx2000)
did not fix the problem -- I'm in using iCab browser now.

Time to go weed the garden and wait this one out, I think. Last time the login problem broke things it was a few days before it got fixed, and I remember having to delete all the files and start over from scratch. Sigh.

I reverted to a backup of my System from 1-29, thinking that perhaps the OSX Java had gotten screwed up.
Working from that backup copy (on a separate drive) I was able to then update as far as
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040205 Firebird/0.7+ (MMx2000)
which works fine.

Any trunk nightly since then has the problem with inactive login buttons. So I have no idea where the problem arises.

Hi everybody,

Thanks for testing the builds. Now that Firefox 0.8 is released, I will soon remove the nightly builds from my webspace.

I planned to build some optimized builds, but due to the trademark issues which only allow me to use the old icons etc., I will wait until this is resolved and there are non-TM-protected Firefox icons in CVS.
Sorry about that, but the old icon sucks.

Greetings . . . Martin
