zip downloads from Firefox

sometime recently I lost the ability to click on a link for a ZIP file and have the option to download it.

Firefox offers to open it in WinZip or let me select another program, but "Download this file" is not an option...

If i click on a link for an EXE, I get the same dialog, but with no options at all...everything is grayed out.

I know I can rightclick and say "Save as...", but this seems screwy...

ALSO...
in the Options->Downloads, the option to select a download folder every time is gone...

are these bugs, or features?

Bug I believe. I cant find the bugzilla report ATM but I have the same problem every so often. Upgrade (or downgrade) to another nightly and its usually fixed.

This is happening to me as well - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 - Have to keep opening things in IE :cry:

Let hope they fix it in 0.9

I just installed the "Things They Left Out" extension and got back the "Download" option (default) for ZIP and EXE, AND got back the "Ask me where to save every file" option in Options->Download...

hurray!!!
