hey man can you tell me how to apply the patch? Sorry but I'm still learning the finer points of building.

i686

Post by Lost User 12105 »

Oo, lots of builds today - making up for lost time I guess. : ) Since you say on your page that you will accept requests, I wonder if sometime you could make a generic i686 O3 build purely as a one-time test. If you have a chance to sometime. Nothing would make me happier than if GCC/MinGW builds got to be faster than M$ builds, so that's why I have an interest.

There are a number of other open source packages which FireFox uses and some of them have MMX optimizations. the JPEG library has SSE2 optimizations. If GCC builds cannot support these optimizations, then it's fighting with one hand tied behind its back. A good engineering challenge would be to get the optimized pieces of FireFox working with GCC checked into the code. That would probably improve the odds of the code getting into Linux builds as well.

This build crashes on startup for me, even if I already have a profile in the Firefox folder. I was using MozillaFirefox_20040311_AXP_O3_SSE.exe

Don't know if this helps at all but heres what XP Pro says

AppName: firefox.exe AppVer: 0.8.0.0 ModName: xpcom.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00005b45

Same problem on my home desktop. I'll nuke everything and start from scratch when I get home.

I'm having trouble with dual monitor support with this build. My MozJF build from Feb9 doesn't have this problem.

The problem is that I run Firefox in my right monitor (secondary) but when I right-mouseclick or use the menu or use the personal bar, the contextmenus shift to the right edge of the primary monitor. They don't display where they should in the secondary monitor.

Like I said, the Feb 9 build by MozJF doesn't have this problem. I'm downloading the 3/12 nightly (non-optimized) to see if that one has the problem as well.

Not Firefox related but TB related. my 20040310 build of thunderbird by Moox has this problem as well. But I use TB on my primary so it isn't a big concern of mine.

UPDATE: Just downloaded the latest nightly (3/11) that build does not exhibit the problem behavior.

BTW - I'm running on a Quadro FX 1000. Athlon MP (2 proc)

I love your MozillaFirefox_P4_O3_SSE2 Builds...

Rendering time in scragz's Page Rendering Test is 4.6!

Amazing! Keep up the good builds!

I am building and updating nightlies for AXP and P4s right now. The AXP O3 and O2 builds with SSE are up as I type as are the P4 O2 and O3 builds with SSE2. Other options will follow as time permits...

In reply to everyone above....

I am working on a custom build right now for you....

Gobd & mmoy
From what I can tell, this stem from overwriting old profiles and installations. Nuke everything and see what happens.

I cannot help you with that b/c I don't have access to dual-monitors. Keep in mind, these are nightly BETA builds afterall so some error will still creep in... #-o

A PII Build.

Post by realgeorge »

moox, I would like to request a Win32 build for old PII users like myself. Mine is 300 Mhz with 128 mb of RAM and, being on dialup, I need all the speed boost I can get. Thanks for your builds.

I did try the i585 build and it was very speedy indeed, but the Java didn`t work and it`s very important to me. If the PII build is as speedy and snappy as the i586 and has working Java, then it will be ideal.
