It happens with them but also without.
I just recently zeroed my ff (.exe directory as well as profile) as one of the nightlies borked my downloading / favourites bar. this version I'm running now has no extensions installed, or so it reports.. I think I install those mostly @ work.

The only thing that come to mind would be a bad key on your keyboard, but I'm sure you must have checked that ?

Me too! I had to scroll over just to hit the "Quote" button to get to this reply!

I don't remember it always being like this.

Yes, as it works everywhere else..

I posted a test case here once and someone else duplicated it, plus it's the same for my home and work PCs.

test case:
1) start FF from the quick launch bar
2) FF loads up with http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
3) press Ctrl + T - new tab opens up and focuses
4) press Ctrl + F4 - Nothing happeens
5) press Ctrl + W - Tab closes

HOWEVER.. I just tried inserting step 3.5
3.5) type in a URL to address bar (http://theregister.co.uk/), hit Enter, then step 4 works as expected.

This has happened for as long as I remember.

Can anyone try out those tests on THIS page and find out what's wrong?

I found that FF passed the first test and failed the rest of it.
Please Fold! Rage3D is a nice place to start

But is this really a good reason? shouldn't there be a soft line fold to take care of long lines, including urls? A new bug for next generation?

My assumption (and it is only that, it's not based on any fact that I'm aware of) is that this is caused by the forum software rather than by Firefox.

"Soft line folding" a table, for example, would not be a wonderful thing.

I found similar results, but I got bored after the second one.. first one worked fine, and I was really hoping the second one would :(

Yeah!

filters aren't part of the CSS spec, are they?

In the w3schools website, when they talk about filters they present them as "IE only". So I don't think its part of the spec. Also note that the "test" was adapted from a MS demo.

P.S.: That site really is misleading. DHTML is NOT, repeat, NOT a web standard. Its just a mixture of CSS and JavaScript. MS and NS marketing coined the term to showcase the abilities of the 4.x generation browsers.

Opacity is a filter that should work in IE6 and the FF 0.8.0+ , but it does not.
I use Opacity on my own homepage and there it works fine on all OS/ all major browsers (not Opera).

About W3schools... I find them quite IE orientated aswell (unfortunately).
I learned a lot there.... in my IE-only days (years ago)

True, w3schools is a IE oriented site.

But they at least have the decency to tell you when something they are showing is IE only.

Since you haven't made a thread, I want to comment on opacity: it DOES work, using either -moz-opacity or opacity.
