[MozJF] About my latest SVG enabled build

Post by MozJF »

I made this morning a static build, using patch from bug 238349.

A comment was made for asking this :

Thanks Frederic. I'm curious, does this patch eliminate the requirement for
having to bundle gdiplus.dll with SVG builds? If so, that would be another bonus
for builders. Maybe you could post a test build on MozillaZine and see if people
on something lower than WinXP can run it.

Anybody with Win98, Millenium or WinNT4/2000 can test without having gdiplus.dll in your windows / winnt directory and see if this build could be run.

Thanks.

I am on Win2000 and had to download the file. Put the file in the main firefox directory and it is running fine.

firefox trunk + svg - 08-04-2004.exe

The dynamic link library gdiplus.dll could not be found in the specified path.

Pentium 4 Windows 2000 SP4. Fresh profile. plugins everything.

As well...when I use firefox trunk - 08-04-2004.exe problem immediatly dissapears. I am guessing that plugging the file in will fix it just fine, but the question I have is what is the benefit of the SVG change?

BTW. THe build is VERY fast as well. I am running a fast CPU but thss does start immediatly upon clicking. :-) Me like a lot. :-).

Go to http://tinylink.com/?4R7GPxeQS6 and you will find instructions on where you can download the DLL file. Just put it in the main firefox directory and you will be fine.

With an SVG-enabled build you will be able to render SVG graphics in FF. If you want more info, you can go to mozilla's SVG project page (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/svg/).

Sweet. TY. Much appreciated. Works beautifully and fast. I'm gonna go see if I can see if there is a difference anywhere. :-)

Thanks all. So, gdiplus is still needed even with static version.

GDI+ is not needed in the svg-libart version.
I have an Moz suite SVG-Libart that I used to test with.
How good the libart is these days I don't know, but it was inferior to GDI half a year ago

If you read mozilla.org svg project page, LIbart is only for Win95 ; GDI+ for 98 and younger.
