2003-03-12 Win32 build is up

Post by AGSHender »

The flashy bug is gone, thank goodness. Qute 1.0 has been checked in, as well, so the icons are now visible on the options page. I didn't have trouble switching themes as someone reported with an earlier build, though I'm using a 2003-03-04 profile. I installed AdBlock and OptiMoz, and I haven't had any problems yet. The minimize bug has not been fixed, but I haven't experienced it yet. No one seems to be able to identify exactly when it happens, just that it seems to happen right at the pinnacle moment of when it will make you the most annoyed.

Other than than, seems to be pretty good in the few minutes I've used it so far. :)

Any other experiences?

Yes this build seems to be very good! Switching themes now seems to work (just tested on one theme but that one did work). Also the black flashing is gone. Installing optimoz from http://optimoz.mozdev.org did not work for me, however if I installed the Mouse Gestures from http://texturizer.net/phoenix/extensions.html it did work. Not sure why difference but it's probably an issue with optimoz rather than Phoenix.

BTW, I deleted my old profile and am using a new profile with this build and everything is working fine so far.

Mouse gestures (v0.3.5) seemed to be busted. I can't get either button to work, even with a new profile. I'll have to create a new profile to test an older version of the gestures, but I have to run to class now. Maybe later. Someone want to try installing the gestures off http://www.mozilla.org/projects/phoenix/extensions/ and report their findings? I believe that's an older version, v0.3.3, I think, and that may work.

The minimize bug is http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=163372 - I've so far had no joy in reproducing it over the last few days.

More annoying to me is the bug which causes the menus at the left of http://support.novell.com/filefinder/week/ render with large boxes instead of single lines for each entry. This affects both Phoenix and Mozilla trunk builds, but works with the Mozilla 1.3 builds. AFAIK this bug appeared sometime after March 5th.

I have absolutely no idea how to categorise it, or whether there's a bug in bugzilla which corresponds to this.

Works great... updating my sig.
Why would you even consider to use the OS that is older and more obsolete than your computer?
See, that's just one of the reasons why I pick Linux.

Except two things (second was broken recently):
1. Sometimes, when I click on a link containing .rar file or paste it into the adress bar, phoenix doesn't ask me to download it, but opens it as a text/html file (I think it happens when there is http://www.someurl.something/blah.rar - this is not a correct url, lol :D).
2. When logging in to some forums, Phoenix asks to download the .php file (it is registered as octet application/stream or smthg like that).
Anyone else?

Don´t know if this is the right forum but anyway.

Anyone notice that Phoenix 2003-03-12 creates a folder called "Cache.Trash" in
"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt\Cache.Trash" after you clear the cache in >Tools > Options... >Privacy >Cache.

It does not happen on the 2003-03-10 or 2003-02-21 builds!

  1. It's done this for a while.
  2. Can you give a link to test?

installed the latest version (0.3.5 - with a new profile and got it working) .. just changed the mouse button modifier in about:config and it works fine now!

haven't had any other problems so far.

Did you install v3.5 from http://texturizer.net/phoenix/extension ... 20Gestures or from the Optimoz page (http://optimoz.mozdev.org/)?

Wow unruhe, I didn't know you could actually change the settings from about:config! That's cool. You used to only be able to view them.

2. This is how I got it today:
1) Went to www.driverheaven.net
2) Used "Click here to login" on the upper right corner
3) Logged in
4) It asked me to download
Hmmm... this is this forum I visit most frequently, but it should be reproducible somewhere else too.

my mistake, installed from the link on texturizer.net - but what's the difference then between the two?

I don't really know... they used to have the same functionality as far as I could tell.... until the one on the optimoz page quit working a few builds ago! :-)
