tabbed troubles
Anyone else having troubles installing the tabbed browsing extension in the 12-03-03? It works now, but the prefs.js gets messed up installing it the first time.

I'm a little curious as to why no one else is able to duplicate my failure, though. New build, new profile, only mouse gestures install, and I can't get it to work with the left button. Changing the button to 2 in about:config doesn't help, and it doesn't work with the right button either. I wouldn't even know what to file a bug for OptiMoz in regards to since I'm the only person here with the problem so far.
No big deal. I don't use any of the new feature of v0.3.5, anyway. Sure would like to know what's going on, though. Incidently, I've got a Logitech MouseMan Dual Optical, Windows XP SP1, and the mouse drivers v9.73.
Bah. I do use the new features, and it's annoying not to have them.
This should (as far as I can tell) be happening to *everyone* who installs a recent version. Anyone who says it's working for them is probably installing v0.3.3.
There's a bug logged for this already

Looks like it isn't working for any Mozilla-based stuff since a nightly about a week ago.
I may be sitting on old Mozillas and Phoenices for a while. I'm sooooo spoiled.

The optimoz file that works is the one that ends in -phx. The one I previously downloaded from the optomoz page doesn't have that appendage, and it doesn't work with 2003-03-12.
When I started this build with a new profile named "Test", it ran just fine. When I started it with a new profile named "Default", it kept crashing until I imported a prefs.js file from the Test profile. Now this was true even with my standard user.js file in place. I'd think it was just a fluke in my system--except others have had this problem and one person even aimed me at the prefs.js file. Weird.
Anyway, it's up, and it's good (a gridiron phrase). Themes switch nicely. No probs so far. It rates the LGB-since-20030221 award, and it's now my workaday browser. Now, if I just knew what to call it . . .

The javascript console is wildly different on my build. Used to be a white window where you could click and highlight errors. Now it's the application background color and it just writes single lines, no click to highlight. I almost like it better this way, you can fit 50 times more errors per screen.
I don't know how long I'm going to last w/out autoscroll, this build might not be fit for my primary.

autoscroll and web search
zengiman wrote:Autoscroll doesn't work for me in this build. First time ever.... Anybody else?
Autoscroll has broken for me too. (Despite doing a fresh install)
Also, right click a link/selected text --> web search is still broken. Goes to a Netscape.com page which does not exist. Also, shouldn't it default to Google search instead (like the find bar?)

Cheers,

Type-ahead works fine for me using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030312 Phoenix/0.5
I have sort of customized it though setting "accessibility.typeaheadfind.linksonly" to false and adding "accessibility.typeaheadfind.autostart" setting it to true.
Thanks! I was still bothered enough tonight to do a mozilla search on "type ahead" and found that they had changed the type ahead to default to off and learned about the ' and / keys with type ahead in the process. I also found the autostart setting and now I'm happily using the feature effortlessly again.
I came back to post a follow-up. Instead, I'll drop this link and tell those of you who may be frustrated by this new default to type '/ and then type ahead to autostart.

1. Sometimes, when I click on a link containing .rar file or paste it into the adress bar, phoenix doesn't ask me to download it, but opens it as a text/html file (I think it happens when there is http://www.someurl.something/blah.rar - this is not a correct url, lol ).
2. When logging in to some forums, Phoenix asks to download the .php file (it is registered as octet application/stream or smthg like that).
Anyone else?
I can also confirm that both problems. Another problem that I have encountered is when I attempt to download a *.exe file Pheonix tries to save it as a *.exe.php file. Is there comething I can do to correct this?

I believe I have had this happen as well.... except when I did it, I noticed that the binary file was in a database.
For instance, the link pointed to http://www.someplace.com/getfile.php ... however, this retrieve the binary from a database and sent a header to the browser containing the content type but it asked to save it as a .php. I just took the php from it and it worked fine.

don't know however if this version contains the extra features ..

Check the menu on the left - does it work correctly in Phoenix?
It works in Mozilla 1.3, btw.

Yep, I submitted it to bugzilla yesterday and it got fixed in less than 10 MINUTES!
Why would you even consider to use the OS that is older and more obsolete than your computer?
See, that's just one of the reasons why I pick Linux.

Actually, it was a bug in Mozilla, or more precisely in Gecko. The Phoenix devs did nothing for this one, sorry :)Spewey wrote:RIV@NVX wrote:Yep, I submitted it to bugzilla yesterday and it got fixed in less than 10 MINUTES!
They must be pouring on the coals to sync up 0.6 with the lawyers getting done on the name.
Awesome.
