Perhaps Firefox should be more flexible, but make a big fuss of HTML, so clicking that dodgy link would take you down the page, but after an alert saying "Arg, dodgy HTML, lousy authors"
Not ever, and be assure that the next IE version won't work with that either.
Webmakers should use the proper browser to verify what they are doing.
Perhaps someone can come up with a strict-mode Firefox extension in
which non-conforming pages are rejected, saving the user from having
to look at pages prepared by careless or ignorant programmers (which
is worse?).
Instead of showing the page the user would be provided with the option
of E-mailing the webmaster address (if one is found). To suit the
user's mood there would be options to send a friendly letter (I liked
your page but...), one just stating the facts (In HTML 4...), or one
written in an indignant tone (My dog...).
Seriously, what's the difference between the "#" in the anchor name
and the many other HTML flaws that Firefox and other browsers handle
using the likely intent of the writer?
