question about an checkin for a bug

Post by hussam »

I see this bug http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=241161
have been fixed on the 1.7 branch. Does anybody know if it will be checked into the aviary branch as well?

Here's a guess: Not till after 0.9. Here's why: Ben Goodger has said he's looking for a small set of changes between the Release Candidate and 0.9, and in the last week or so there hasn't been a concerted effort to push fixes from the 1.7 branch to aviary. (Not true of thunderbird, but that's a different dev)

While fixes landing on 1.7 are tested pretty carefully, it may be too risky to for Firefox 0.9 to catch up just at the moment.

Uh...but AVIARY is based on the Seamonkey 1.7 branch. Therefore, anything automatically checked in there goes to AVIARY. It's the stuff on the Seamonkey trunk that has to be checked in manually.

Unfortunately that is not correct john. The trunk branched to create 1.7, and that branched to get Aviary. So fixes must be deliberately applied.
