Any new builds fix form autocompletion?

Post by rsnidjik »

I hate to beat a dead horse, but do any of the more recent builds have the form autocompletion bug fixed? After four months of regular use, I'm all set to recommend Phoenix to all who'll listen, but as long as that bug is there, I don't think I can.

Speaking of autocomplete, when the suggestion pops up, is the only way to get it to 'fill-in' is to use the down arrow?

If you want to know when the autocomplete crash bug will be fixed, add yourself to the Cc list of http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=184202

The Bugzilla entry says the affected component is XP Toolkit/Widget. Does that mean it's an XP-specific problem, even though the OS says "All"? I've been using Phoenix extensively on Linux since November and never run into that problem (IIRC).

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030401 Phoenix/0.5.
Kubuntu 8.04 (kernel 2.6.24-25-generic) / KDE 3.5.10
CentOS 4.8 (kernel 2.6.9-78.0.22.ELsmp) / KDE 3.5.10
Mac OS X 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard) / iPhone 3GS (32GB black)

heh... XP in the list of Mozilla components is nothing to do with Windows XP (neither are XPFE, XPCOM etc) - XP in Mozilla stands for "cross-platform", and Microsoft later came along and used "XP" as a version tag with apparently no meaning...

IIRC, Microsoft initially made that connection with their advertising, but later said officially that XP doesn't stand for "experience" or anything in particular... I guess it's quite possible that they thought it did originally but decided not to record it officially... anyway...

Several reports I saw speculated that Microsoft was aware of the X Window System, noticed that Apple announced Mac OS/X and thought it would be a kewl idea to jump on the X bandwagon.

That reminds me. I found a list of all of the Microsoft project or 'working' codenames and thought immediately of our eternal name threads. You can check it out here:
http://bink.nu/mscodes.htm
It appears that Phoenix was never one of their choices . Erm, Mozilla never made it either.
Gecko, OTOH, did. Can you guess for what?
