Weird redirect

Post by dtobias »

When I go to this site in Mozilla:
http://www.failuremag.com/arch_history_ ... hange.html
I get redirected to a page with nothing but a graphical banner. This happens even if I disable JavaScript.

Does this happen for other users too? (Maybe it has something to do with configuration settings; I've got Mozilla set to disallow opening new browser windows by target attributes.) Is this a Mozilla bug or a tech evangelism problem regarding goofy nonstandard code?

What do you expect from a magazine called failure?

I tried that link, telling Moz to open it in a new tab. It opened fine, then a second later a new window opened with that graphical banner. The tab I'd just opened in the original window was still there, with the site displayed correctly (AFAIK). I've got popup windows disabled too.

that would tend to suggest that some user.js entry is forcing the new window into a new tab ?

e.g.

user_pref("browser.block.target_new_window", true);

Exactly the same here with Konqueror. I've got blocking pop-ups set to smart and new window should be new tab.
