idiot web page found

Post by johann_p »

The web page "http://www.eggdrop.org/" shows the following message when I try to view it with Mozilla 2003040911:

"Ancient Web Browser or Idiot User Detected
I'm afraid you web browser is positively ancient... OR You've typed in an invalid Website for this Server, check you've typed it absolutely correctly! If not, You might want to consider upgrading at some time!

You might want to lookup www.opera.com or www.netscape.com to find a newer browser. "

I can only say to that: this guy either has an ancient browser detection scheme or my browser has detected an idiot web author.

must be an idiotic serverside browser detection setup

Opera 7 beta Linux ided as Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Linux 2.4.19-16mdk i686) Opera 7.10 [en]

same message

and as Opera/7.10 (Linux 2.4.19-16mdk i686; U) [en]

perhaps there is no detection, and it's just a useless website ?

It seems that there isn't any detection at all and you always get the weird page. Maybe it has to do with 'OR You've typed in an invalid Website for this Server, check you've typed it absolutely correctly!'. If you use ftp to access www.eggdrop.org, there is only some weird stuff about a 4.8 release of something.
