I noticed something very useful w/ Firefox and Mozilla. Once you load a page, you can do a Save As and save a completely and properly locally rendered version of the page to your local machine.

What I'm wondering, are there any command-line options that would let you have firefox load a remote url from the command line and then save it to a given destination? This would make access to the program from PHP very easy, for example.

Seems like the codebase already fully supports the rendering aspect. Just need the options to run from the command line.

Wget is really limited in its full support of css. For the project I'm working on now, just using Mozilla/Firefox to do this would save oodles of development time.

Yeah, I already had this list. There doesn't seem to be any command-line only options, like a save-as option.

firefox "http://www.mozilla.org" save-as('/local/copy/')

Something like that.

BTW, Fx2 has a new commandline option "search".

Code: Select all
firefox -search foo
