creating new searchplugin

Post by cleverlemming »

I'm trying to create a new SearchPlugin for my Salesforce custom search page. I'm finding it very difficult to test because I can't predict when changes to the xml file will be picked up and saved after I save the xml file to the searchplugins directory. If I make changes to an existing file, they aren't picked up. New files show up, but if I delete them they seem to be gone forever. Is there a methodology for adding and changing search engine plugin files other than saving them and restarting Firefox to prevent them from being cached for an uncertain duration?

I don't know if this would be any quicker for you but you might use Mycroft Project to generate your plugin and then test it (it will install it for you right away after you first generate the plugin and then click on "Test Plugin"). Go here: http://mycroftproject.com/submitos.html
