I do have my own domain name and have been using a paid for email hosting service for a good few years, however I now no longer generate the same amount of emails and paying for the service is just an indulgence and a bit silly.
So, looking at free email hosting, does anyone use/ have experience with a free provider ?
I've had a look at Zoho (not actually free but cheaper than I'm paying now), there others that are free, they ‘look’ OK but ? What’s the downside, is it really free, is it easy to set up and maintenance free ?

Anyone have experiences or comments

I have a free Zoho account which I use mainly for testing. The documentation for the free version is poor. I never really considered them an alternative to Fastmail , PolarisMail etc. as they are too business focused.

I'm not aware of a good free email provider that lets you use your own domain. That is usually a feature you need to pay for.

I don't know what to think of (free email forwarding to gmail etc. for a domain) . ... hq4ZpBDSpA doesn't inspire confidence. mentions some others.

You might find the "Email Comments, Questions and Miscellaneous" forum on useful. You'll need to use the display options at the bottom to show old threads.
