Keyboard Shortcut - Does Shift-Del Work ?

There is no Shift-Del verification (or entry) in the keyboard shortcut listings. Shift-Del seems to delete messages, bypassing the trash folder, similar to other general window commands. However, on our mail server this behavior is erratic. Any advice?
