Appearance of Quote Text

Post by LVCIVS »

Forgive me if this has been asked or if the solution is really obvious: when I reply to a message, it often looks like this:

Is there a setting I can change to make the quote look right, without the chopped-off lines? Or is there nothing I can do because the format is the fault of the sender of the previous message? If that's the case, T-bird should be smarter and fix improperly wrapped message quotes.

(Note that I have modified my settings to get different shades of gray for different quote levels, based on the Thunderbird Help page, but that shouldn't affect anything.)

Yeah this one bothers me too... I already posted under features a different way to quote, but fixing this would be yet another bonus.

Is there a bug filed for this?

I see pretty much the same problem at work on Outlook. I'm still using Mozilla at home for email, but plan to switch to Thunderbird... it would be nice to solve this problem but I suspect its harder than it looks.

If by "chopped off lines" you mean the single word in some lines, I have never seen that happen except when the sender uses Outlook Express and it is the result of a longstanding bug in OE that improperly quotes text.

Code: Select all

user_pref("mail.quoted_graphical", false);

also, if interested, you may look here.
