Maybe I've got a real RTFM problem, but I didn't find any hint on how to configure Thunderbird to
work with fetchmail and sendmail/postfix if you don't want to use it as a standalone mail client.

In former times there seemed to be a possibility to configure Netscape Messanger using a little piece of software called move-mail to read mail from the standard location in /var/spool/mail where fetchmail had dropped it before but I couldn't find anything simillar in the Thunderbird tar file.

Can anyone help or give a hint where to find more information?

Many thanks
Tilmann

If you happen to know the magic word, "movemail," as you did, it isn't too hard to find. A search in the forums will turn up plenty of links to the documents below.

For those of us that had never heard of "movemail," its much harder to find the information. Although I had been looking for this kind of information for about a year, and even posted bug reports related to this functionality, it wasn't until I randomly happened upon a mention of "movemail" recently in the forums, and looked into what it meant, that I fount it.

It looks like you already got your question answered over in this thread:

but for others with the same question:

Hi Tom,

thanks for your answer. My problem at that time was the difference between "move-mail" and "movemail". About the first one I read in an old Linux book and wasn't smart enough to look up "movemail" in this forums.

And, yes, I found the pages you mentionend although I haven't tried yet. Still using pine...

Thx
Tilmann
